Unfortunately, insurance does not recognize the value in functional medicine yet, therefore they do not cover these sessions as they would for conventional medicine.

An itemized bill and receipt will be provided to you upon request, which you are then able to file with insurance. An itemized bill does not guarantee payment by your insurance. For your convenience, you may keep a credit card on file for recurring payments.
However, functional medicine, neurofeedback, and muscle testing are not covered by insurance, and you may not receive reimbursement from your insurance for these services.
Neurofeedback teaches the brain to change itself and helps attention, mood, behavior, cognition, and more. In simple terms, neurofeedback is positive reinforcement for the brain. It teaches the brain how to be better balanced. Neurofeedback training makes use of the brain’s amazing capacity for change and its ability to reshape how it works to help us meet the challenges we face.
Although we are all born with networks of neurons and connecting fibers, our brains are constantly being shaped by experience. Repeated experience results in increased connections among neurons and in greater strength in the existing connections. These small changes, frequently enough repeated, lead to changes in how our brains work. Many university studies have shown that it is possible to change brain activity patterns through feedback guided learning.
Neurofeedback is a kind of biofeedback therapy, which teaches self-control of brain functions to subjects by measuring brain waves and providing a feedback signal. Neurofeedback is used to treat many conditions such ADD, ADHD, stress disorders, anxiety, panic attacks, autism, depression, headaches, migraines, concussions, and sleep issues. It also may be used to aid memory concerns; to help individuals struggling with epilepsy, PTSD, OCD as well as repair brain damage from stroke or a traumatic brain injury.
A typical session lasts about 45-60 minutes, however, the actual training period lasts a maximum of 30 minutes. Additional time is needed beforehand for sensor placement and adjustment.
Usually there is a noticeable effect within 10-20 sessions.
Some insurances recognize the value of neurofeedback. You can receive a detailed statement for you to submit for possible reimbursement.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a phased, focused approach to treating trauma by reconnecting the client in a safe and measured way to the associations with the trauma and allowing natural healing powers of the brain to move toward adaptive resolution.
After the therapist and client agree that EMDR therapy is a good fit, the beginning sessions will involve discussing what the client wants to work on and improving the client’s ability to manage distress.
When ready for the next phases of EMDR therapy, the client will be asked to focus on a specific event. Attention will be given to a negative image, belief, emotion, and body feeling related to this event, and then to a positive belief that would indicate the issue was resolved.
While the client focuses on the upsetting event, the therapist will begin sets of side-to-side eye movements, sounds, or taps. The client will be guided to notice what comes to mind after each set. They may experience shifts in insight or changes in images, feelings, or beliefs regarding the event.
The client has full control to stop the therapist at any point if needed. The sets of eye movements, sounds, or taps are repeated until the event becomes less disturbing.
A typical EMDR therapy session lasts from 60-90 minutes. It could take one or several sessions to process one traumatic experience.
Muscle Testing is a non-invasive system of analyzing the body to determine the underlying causes of ill health. When these causes are corrected through safe, natural, nutritional means, the body can repair itself to attain and maintain more optimum health.
Our bodies interact and move by contracting and releasing muscles. A client will illicit either a contraction or release of certain muscles by applying gentle pressure to the muscular system. By observing whether the muscle locks (stays in place) or unlocks (moves down) will determine if the body is deficient or sufficient in certain nutrients as well as adverse to any outside stimulants (i.e. allergies).
During a muscle test, the practitioner applies a force to one muscle or group of muscles, with a particular intent in mind. The muscle is then labelled “weak” or “strong” based on its ability to resist this force.
Most sessions last between 30 to 60 minutes and you and the practitioner will discuss how many sessions are needed.
